About Mind Your Music

Mind Your Music is a Bristol and Somerset-based charitable organisation that offers music-related programs and initiatives to promote better mental health. Our services include mixed music workshops, music creation and performance,  discounted individual tuition, social music events and shows, all with a focus on the intersection of music and mental wellness. Our vision is to provide supportive, no pressure music workshops and resources to those suffering from any kind of mental difficulty. Musical experience isn't necessary -  we believe in the power of music to enhance one's happiness and well-being!

Our Approach

At Mind Your Music, we believe that music can be an effective tool for promoting better mental health. That's why we offer programs that require no previous musical skills, focusing on the creation and performance of music as a means to improve mental well-being. Our approach is centered on the idea that music can be a powerful tool for self-expression, stress relief, and emotional regulation.

Our Story

Mind Your Music was founded in Bristol in 2003 by Elliot Hall following his own battle with serious mental illness.  His idea was to provide accessible mental health support through a program of informal music workshops. Our team is comprised of passionate musicians with mental health experience who share the belief that music can be a valuable tool for better mental health.

Our Community

At Mind Your Music, we believe that community is an essential aspect of mental well-being. That's why we've created an informal, friendly environment for individuals interested in using music to improve their mental health. Our community includes individuals of all ages and backgrounds, united by their love of music and by their  mental wellness journeys. We have a Whatsapp group and a social tea/coffee break at our sessions. Our members often go on to form supportive friendships.

Mixed Music Workshops

Bristol and Frome

I absolutely love our mind your music groups and quite honestly don't know what I'd do without them. It is the one place I feel safe in and through your gentle guidance I have found respite whilst developing some musical skills and even some confidence!
